Note the time right now.
Most of you know that I’m from South Africa, few of you know that I’ve had Malaria twice, so when i wondered into Nandos last night and spotted these babies I forked out my change without a second thought. This is such a rad idea and at just AU$4 a pop it’s something everyone can get behind.
Now according to United Against Malaria the disease claims a child every 30 seconds and causes nearly one million deaths every year. Africa is hit hardest, with 91% of all cases worldwide. Malaria is the numero uno killer of children under the age of 5 and buying one of these bracelets will help eliminate it, and stop 850,000 preventable malaria deaths each year in Africa. UAM’s aim is to ensure full coverage of malaria nets and medicines by 2010, and maximum reduction in malaria deaths by 2015 as a major step toward ultimately eradicating malaria.
Just to sweeten the deal more; these gnarly bracelets are handmade in Africa as an employment project for unemployed people, many of whom are HIV/AIDS survivors and caretakers of HIV/AIDS orphans. The proceeds from each sale go to supporting these people and to the Global Fund for malaria prevention. Hit up unitedagainstmalaria.org to find out more.
Note the time now, and remember that every 30 seconds a child dies from this disease. You giving up $4 of change can help fix that.

Nikki out.
And yes, I know it’s been about 9 years since I last posted anything on here, but I’m back and fully intend on spamming on a regular basis.
